Free Family Swims for serving Royal Navy, Royal Marines & Royal Fleet Auxiliary Families 

As part the Swim Free programme, we are delighted to offer free Family Swim sessions for families with a serving parent in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

Our first Family Swims will be held in Plymouth and Fareham, with the sessions open to all members of your family, regardless of age or swimming ability. Each session offers relaxed fun in the water, with floats & toys, family-friendly games, and the chance to spend quality time with other Royal Navy families.

Family Swim at the Plymouth Life Centre

40 Mayflower Dr, Plymouth PL2 3DG
Sunday, 7th December 2025
 9am – 12noon

Join our first Family Swim at the Plymouth Life Centre! This relaxed and friendly session is packed with activities suitable for all ages. We’ll be swimming in the Dive Pool from 9-10.30am, followed by refreshments until 12 noon.  

Session highlights

Christmas music to set the festive mood
Floats and fun for all ages
Friendly relay races
A family-friendly water polo game
Pool depth 1.2 meters

After the swim, join us for tea, coffee, juice and pastries and get chatting to other families from the local Royal Navy community. 

Evening Family Swim at HMS Collingwood

Newgate Lane, Fareham, Hampshire, PO14 1AS
Wednesday, 17th December 2025
 5.30pm – 7pm

Join us for an evening of fun at HMS Collingwood and celebrate the end of our first block of swimming lessons! This relaxed session is aimed at families who have been swimming with us over the last 12 weeks.

A family-friendly water polo game

The Family Swim is great chance to join your swimmers in the water and see the progress they have made over the past 12 weeks.

Family Swim FAQs

Family Swims are open to families with a parent currently serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The serving person does not need to attend the session, but please note, you will need to bring another adult with you if you have more than two swimmers aged 8 or under.  

Yes, booking is essential for all members of the family who would like to take part in the Family Swim. Any family members not participating will be able to watch the session from the centre's designated viewing area.  

Swimmers aged 12+, who can swim 25 meters, can join the session without a parent or guardian in the water.

You can book a space for everyone in your immediate family unit. Please note, adults can only swim with a maximum of two under 8s.
