Free Family Swims for serving Royal Navy, Royal Marines & Royal Fleet Auxiliary Families 

As part the Swim Free programme, we are delighted to offer free Family Swim sessions for families with a serving parent in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

Our Family Swim Sessions are open to all members of your family, regardless of age or swimming ability. Each session offers relaxed fun in the water, with floats & toys, family-friendly games, and the chance to spend quality time with other Royal Navy families.

Family Swim at HMS Temeraire

HMS Temeraire, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth, PO1 2HB
Sunday, 25th January 2026
 Sessions: 9.15-10am and 10.15-11am

Join the Royal Navy Family and People Support Service, HMS Temeraire and the Swim Free team for a fun Family Swim this January! This relaxed and friendly session is packed with activities suitable for all ages.

After the swim, join us for light refreshments and get chatting to other families from the local Royal Navy community.

*Please note, you will need to book spaces for all family members. Parents must accompany children in the water.

Family Swim FAQs

Family Swims are open to families with a parent currently serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The serving person does not need to attend the session, but please note, you will need to bring another adult with you if you have more than two swimmers aged 8 or under.  

Yes, booking is essential for all members of the family who would like to take part in the Family Swim. Any family members not participating will be able to watch the session from the centre's designated viewing area.  

Swimmers aged 12+, who can swim 25 meters, can join the session without a parent or guardian in the water.

You can book a space for everyone in your immediate family unit. Please note, adults can only swim with a maximum of two under 8s.
